Dusty started racing an IMCA modified in98 (at age 14-minimum age required is 16), and finished 7th in his first race! He only competed in 10 races that year at Savannah Speedway, but finished 20th out of 48 in season points.
In the first six weeks of 99, he finished in the top 3 of every heat race, and had 1 heat win. He finished 10th in season points after falling 3 positions in the standings in the last 3 events due to a blown transmission, a thrown rod, and a broken wrist and hand (broken while holding the car in gear, and still finishing 12th in the 18 car A-Main Feature one-handed).
In the year 2000, at the age of 16, Dusty began driving a winged sprint car in the Outlaw Class. He ran Savannah Speedway on Friday nights. A blown engine made him miss the second half of the season, dropping from 7th to a disappointing 15th in the points standings.
A VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU to the people who have made it possible to reach the level Dusty is at today. Without their help, he never would have made it this far:
